Travelogue
We come across a signboard, turn to the path to the right and proceed among the maquis. We go down a little and then we go up and here we have already come to the ancient city of Phellos. You are very lucky if a caretta salutes in the turquoise bays below after passing the granaries and a mosque from the fountain of Cukurbag village. Finally, we enter civilization through the rock tombs in the hills. This is the homeland of the Lycian kingdom, the heart of this land of light on the Teke peninsula, with its name Antiphellos in Lycia, and the Mediterranean islands embroidered like a necklace, and the island of Meis across from Fethiye.
I had the opportunity to go to Kas a few times. One was discovery diving with the Nautilus Diving club to experience diving, and then I got the Open Water Diver Certificate in the depths that I fell in love with, in late 2013. My next trip is in 2018 for Zirve Mountaineering and nature sports and Lycia stages. It was never easy to invent a reason to go again. Live with camps, whether by diving or by walking on its paths, but do not leave without a salute to the Lycian King's tomb at the top, watching the intoxicating sunsets and the long bazaar, which is a colorful revel. If it's an authentic place, that's where you are looking for.
I arrived in Kaş for 4, 5 days around November to dive with Nautilus Diving Kaş. They have an experienced team and they work with discipline. Even though I don't have any equipment, they cover everything for diving. It started with Discovery, which is the discovery dive like its name, and I realized I wanted more. I encountered a lot of small fish and a caretta on the first dive. The next morning a surprise awaited on the first day of training, there were two separate groups other than me, a few Russian tourists coming to diving and a crowded group from the Sisli Underwater Sports club. I must say that Open Water Diver training is not easy. Technical knowledge, equipment use and all underwater safety practices are meticulously repeated. I had an ear sync problem and had a little difficulty. I think it turned out with increasing pressure that my sinuses were also very troubled. We caught the most beautiful photos thanks to the photographs of the Sisli underwater club, although they only allow 15 meters in the Canyon where the two walls meet in a V shape towards the bottom 20 meters. Nevertheless, I got my certificate as Padi and TSSF Cmas with the last 18, 20 meters dives and passing the exam.
And the boutique hotel where I stayed had a wonderful view overlooking the harbor and town from a bird's eye view. Usually one or two groups other than me came for diving.
My suggestion about Kas is the discovery of a submarine with its wild nature, Mediterranean air, turquoise sea and history, where I was enchanted by a daily boat, the sunken city of Kekova, which was buried under the water with the great earthquakes in 141 and 240 AD, Kalekoy-Simena, Ucagiz and Lycia. Another is exploring Aperlai and Apollonia only reached from the walking route.
