Travelogue
CittaSlow is the city of those who live life by feeling, without being late for things. It hosts a 4000-year-old settlement. Ancient Teos, which is actually a Carian city, is said to have been founded by the Cretans who escaped from the Achaeans in 2000 BC.
Starting from the ancient city of Ephesus and exploring the Smyrna-İzmir peninsula historically along the Karaburun Mimas route, by trekking or by staying in bicycle camps or pensions, enabled us to experience Seferihisar and its surroundings in the most beautiful way. Our first route was independent from the second but still worth exploring.
Starting from Seferihisar, passing through Kavaklıdere village, we reached Orhanli and finally Beyler village, we saw old olive groves and factories where they were stone-pressed. There was a spa near the village of Kavaklidere that was good for skin diseases. Our second route allowed us to go to the main destination
When we set off from Urkmez to Kavaklidere, we saw a lot of tangerine orchards. You can try a wonderful Seferihisar route in spring with its forest area, Lebedos ancient city and flowers, either by trekking or by bike. Have your tent with you. There is a choice of camping in Kavaklıdere and Payamli, or a hostel in Urkmez and Seferihisar.
By staying one night in Kavaklıdere village, our direction would be Teos. We followed an asphalt road to the beach, passing through the fields and gardens. We went up a hill, saw windmills, crossed a stream and went up another hill, we saw an olive grove on the right and tangerine gardens when we got down. Without further ado, we were able to enter the ancient city of Teos. Our next target was Sigacik, which we are now very close to.
From the ancient city Teos, walking route is about 2 km to Sigacik. Our route is easier, we start from the ancient port of Teos on a flat earth road and walk through the gardens. We continue along the edge of the walls of the ancient city along the way to the Agora temple. There is the ancient parliament building on the road, then the ancient cistern can be seen on one side of the road. If you want to see the wine god Dionysus temple, you should continue to the cistern side. After the ancient assembly, the road takes you to the ancient theater. The curiosity of exploration made us 5 km, but there is a lot of history to see here. Finally, we arrive at the excavation house from the theater and from there to Sığacık from the north of the city walls. Now is the time to rest and enjoy. Sigacik marina, the old port, the restored colorful producer market and the most beautiful coastal town where you will experience the joy of Aegean blue waters.
